Local Economy Group
To stimulate and encourage local business growth and mutual co-operation, especially those crafts, skills and enterprises that emphasise sustainability and best transition practice.
1. Help hub.
A knowledge resource for local business start-ups using Transition members’ expertise (many are retired senior professionals) to provide help in all basic business processes, management and implementation.
2. New business start-ups.
Encouraging business start-ups with incentives, as outlined through BID (Business Improvement Districts) and other organisations that we will contact to provide a ‘start-up package’
3. ‘Salisbury Craft Guild’.
With the leisure and tourism markets in mind, we will encourage the start-up and relocation of traditional craft industries to Salisbury, both individually and as a collective promotion. This may lead to the creation of a ‘craft complex’, and suitable city centre locations are being investigated.
4. Vocational Apprenticeships.
We will promote and encourage vocational apprenticeship schemes with local organisations and businesses.
